Meet Our Founder

As adults we often reference the “red tape” that surrounds us. And when I first started teaching, I didn’t mind the red tape. It told me what to teach, how to teach, and when to teach it. But as I accumulated experience and interacted with families from all different walks of life I noticed the red tape was becoming suffocating. I had students who needed a little extra material to understand the “what”, students who needed to be more engaged in the “how”, and especially students who needed a little more patience with the “when”. I realized I couldn’t teach under those expectations, and so my students couldn’t truly learn. That’s when I decided I needed to do something different. At Mangrove Academy, we are still curriculum based. However, our curriculum is not red tape- a barrier to true knowledge. Instead, it is a forest. A place for students to explore, to pause and wonder, to reflect and grow. Come grow with us.
